Prof. Dr. med. Sebastian Siebenlist

Welcome to Sports Orthopedics

of the hospital of the Technical University of Munich.

Our highly specialized sports orthopedics team offers individual treatments for sports injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Using modern, minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopy, we successfully treat knee and shoulder injuries, joint wear and misalignments. Particularly complex cases, such as knee misalignments or shoulder arthrosis, are comprehensively cared for in our specialized department and followed up with in-house physiotherapy.

We also focus on patient-oriented research in order to be able to offer you the latest treatment approaches. Close cooperation with national and international research teams enables us to put modern approaches to biomechanics and artificial intelligence into practice.

If you have any questions, we look forward to your call or email.

Facilities and services

The Technical University of Munich Hospital is the first Bavarian and one of the few German university hospitals to have a certified quality management system since April 2011. As a DIN EN ISO 9001-certified hospital, it must regularly demonstrate that defined and controlled treatment and support processes are in place and that process quality and patient orientation are continuously improved.

The Sports Orthopedics Section at the TUM Klinikum rechts der Isar (TUM Hospital on the right bank of the Isar River) operates an outpatient clinic, a 23-bed ward, and three operating rooms (clean-air operating rooms). Both in the clinic and in the outpatient setting, modern physiotherapy and physical therapy follow-up treatment and rapid athletic rehabilitation are guaranteed. In addition to comprehensive treatment for recreational athletes, the Sports Orthopedics Section has long been providing care for athletes from competitive and high-performance sports. Team physicians from the section also provide support to teams such as FC Bayern Basketball and the German Judo Federation.
