Ward R1a Sports Orthopedics

Our R1a ward opened in January 2013 and is located in the sports center directly above the sports orthopedics department. Ward R1a offers four double and five triple rooms equipped with the latest clinical standards.

Below you will find all the important information clearly structured.

Important information

Daily routine

Medical visits, dressing changes, and discharges are performed in the mornings starting at 7:30 a.m., even on weekends. In addition, further examinations, if needed, and physiotherapy are performed throughout the day.

At 1:30 p.m. the care handover takes place at the patient’s bedside.

There is a night-time quiet period from 9:45 p.m.

Visiting hours

There are no set visiting hours on our wards. However, we ask visitors to leave their rooms briefly if a doctor or nurse is visiting another patient in the room, and to end their visit by 8:00 p.m.

Meals

Breakfast: from 7:30
Lunch: from 11:45
Dinner: 5:00 PM

A balanced and tasty diet is especially important during illness. Our hospital kitchen staff support our patients' recovery by providing the highest quality food and a wide range of services based on the latest nutritional findings.

The hospital's kitchen serves three meals a day, along with drinks and snacks. At lunchtime, you can choose from three different menus, compiled according to the principles of modern nutritional science. You can choose from full meals, light meals, and a vegetarian menu. A pork-free dish is always available. You have the opportunity to individually select and combine your meals within medically prescribed guidelines.

The menu is seasonally adjusted and changes weekly. High-quality products and primarily fresh ingredients are used in the preparation of the dishes. The composition of the dishes is based on the current recommendations of the German Society for Nutritional Medicine (DGEM) and the German Society for Nutrition (DGE).

Many of our patients require special dietary requirements due to illness, food intolerances, allergies, or religious requirements. Our kitchen is fully equipped to accommodate your wishes and needs as much as possible. A dietitian and several state-certified dietitians prepare customized special diets.

Tea, coffee and water are freely available at the patient bar at any time

Dismissal

The final consultation with the ward physician usually takes place during the morning. A detailed discharge letter with a current medication list and individual follow-up treatment plan is provided, and any outstanding questions are clarified. The prescription of postoperative medications and follow-up physiotherapy treatments will be arranged by your family doctor or local orthopedic surgeon. Please schedule an appropriate appointment well in advance. It is also recommended to schedule physiotherapy appointments well in advance after discharge. Patients on the sports orthopedics wards are also discharged on weekends.
