Procedure for outpatient consultations

The outpatient consultation is organized as a scheduled appointment, with the time intervals allowing for a meaningful, comprehensive assessment of the patient's symptoms. Each patient is examined by a junior physician and the on-call senior physician to determine whether an upcoming surgical indication is indicated or to initiate a groundbreaking treatment. If necessary, any additional examinations (X-rays, CT scans, MRI) are performed in the radiology department of the Klinikum rechts der Isar or on an outpatient basis.

Discussion of findings and therapy planning

The findings and treatment options, including all alternatives, are discussed with the patient. Only then can a decision regarding treatment be made jointly with the patient.

Follow-up and check-ups

If surgical treatment is necessary, patients are usually called in for a follow-up examination 12 weeks after surgery. Further follow-up examinations are performed as needed. In addition, follow-up examinations are conducted at regular intervals outside of regular office hours as part of study protocols, in consultation with the patient.

Standardized documentation for certain clinical pictures

For certain medical conditions, examinations and documentation are performed during outpatient consultations using internationally accepted and standardized examination forms. This also enables a standardized and comparable postoperative follow-up examination, while simultaneously allowing us to compare different surgical techniques and implants within the framework of our scientific work.

Appointment and referral

Treatment in our outpatient clinic can be arranged after prior appointment by telephone, either through direct consultation or through referral from your family doctor or orthopedist.

Opening hours for sporting events

During certain sporting events, the polyclinic is also open on weekends.

Emergency treatment for sports trauma injuries

In the case of sports trauma emergencies, medical treatment can be provided without prior appointment.
